Jaguar Will Construct Engine Plant in India

Four years after its purchase by Indian parent company Tata Motors, luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover has plans to construct an engine plant in India. At this new plant, Jaguar will produce engines that are similar to those normally found on Tata vehicles. These engines will have much lower specifications according to Ralf Speth, Chief Executive of Jaguar Land Rover. There are also plans in the works to setup a similar engine plant in England, as well. This plant required an investment of 355 pounds and will focus on high performance engines with low emissions.

The new Indian engine factory will focus on entry level engines and will synchronize Tata Motor's efforts with those of Jaguar, as the engines will be used on models for both brands. Currently, Ford Motor Company produces most of the luxury brand's engines, and though this venture will lessen Ford's involvement, the company has stated the two companies will continue to work together closely.

The new engines should create a sort of niche market to help Jaguar increase its sales at an even higher level. The brand's sales are estimated to have risen by 18 percent last year, reaching 274,280. Jaguar has also been focusing more in growing auto markets like India, Brazil, and China, which will continue to increase profits as demand rises.

Jaguar certainly does seem to be growing and prospering, as it anticipates the needs and wants of its drivers.
